April Boyd
Registered Nurse
I have had an intrinsic fascination with the human body and how brilliantly it functions since high school. This fascination, paired with a passion to serve others, sprouted a desire to work in healthcare. I became an RN and I set my intention on enriching people with knowledge and empowering them with tools for optimal health. My nursing career evolved through many diverse roles: ranging from ICU, L&D, PACU, Pediatrics and Diabetes Education.
Over the years I married my high school sweetheart and we were blessed with two beautiful children. Motherhood changed the trajectory of my life when pregnancy activated my own autoimmunity: this obstacle became an opportunity. My experience ignited a passion for good nutrition, physical activity and harmonized hormones.
While my previous work was fulfilling, I found working on the tail end of disease often felt far from my original mission. Currently my focus is on the conversation of energy! Good cellular energy, obtained through optimal metabolic health, is necessary for having good physical energy and thriving in life. Narrowing my specialty has not narrowed my view of healthcare. The mechanisms that nourish, protect and heal our cells from metabolic distress speak the same truth in cellular disfunction of all kinds. Yet, we all have unique genetics, stressors, toxin exposure and deficiencies that need to be explored to expose root of symptoms. Therefore, it is my distinct pleasure to join Dr. Wolbers and her team in transforming health in a well-care instead of a sick-care model.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, preferably in nature! I love creating art, gardening, strength training and cultivating gourmet mushrooms.
