Mood and stress are not mutually exclusive. Symptoms can overlap and can look different from person-to-person.
If a stress in your life dissolves but you still feel stressed/exhausted/fried, that's a signal it could be something deeper. Think adrenal health!
Our adrenals are small little glands that sit on top of our kidneys. They are responsible for how we respond to stress.
I almost always enjoy finding ways to cure health ailments with diet, and there are a few foods that not only help soothe our nervous systems but can nourish the adrenals if they're tanked.
Here are my top 4:
Chamomile tea - soothing, relaxing, calming and *bonus* good for the digestive system! A warm cup of chamomile tea can be a nice alternative to a glass of wine at the end of the day to wind down.
Mushrooms - my mushroom of the moment is Reishi. It's an adaptogen, which means it helps our bodies adapt to high levels of stress. Reishi mushroom is most readily available as a supplement, but it can also be found in tea or tincture form. The most medicinal
Oats - these tasty grains are rich in B vitamins, magnesium, and adrenal-supporting amino acids. Eat them raw or soaked overnight for best nutrition.
Wild-caught Salmon- salmon is packed full of omega 3s, which help regulate inflammation and help make serotonin (our happy hormone) work better!
