Aphrodisiac Foods

Valentine's Day has always been one of my favorite holidays, and you all know I love Food As Medicine! When two of my favorite worlds collide, I am happy as a clam. Speaking of...here are a few of my top favorite aphrodisiac foods:

Oysters: contain zinc and serotonin. Zinc is essential for testosterone production and serotonin increases the pleasure response.

Dark chocolate: contains an amino acid called L-arginine, which is a natural enhancer, and promotes blood flow to the sexual organs.

Chili peppers: contain capsaicin, which increases libido and testosterone. The hotter the pepper, the better!

Figs: contain zinc which helps with testosterone production, and they are an important source of potassium. Potassium is essential for heart health, but also helps with blood flow.

Artichokes: are also a great source of potassium, which gets the blood flowing.

Pistachios: increase blood flow and contain arginine, which helps by enhancing blood flow by increasing nitric oxide which relaxes blood vessels.

Strawberries: are not only full of nutrients, but they contain several minerals such as magnesium, potassium, and folate which boost libido.

Maca: may boost sperm count and enhance fertility in men. Maca can also increase libido in women. Since maca is an adaptogen, it can help improve mood and energy levels for many people across the board.

Tribulus: Tribulus & maca are my go-to supplements for helping increase libido. Tribulus can treat endocrine disorders, help to reduce stress, and restore libido.

Enjoy your food as medicine! And as always, thanks for reading!
